Being somewhat computer design savvy I was looking for the most simple, yet informationally comprehensive web design possible. I used the free version of the Modality Theme for some time, using my coding ability to “get around” and change things that weren’t available in the free version. After some time I realized that all the time I had spent to make the changes was easily worth the $60 price tag that the themes by vmThemes carry. I was so impressed by the build and ease of use that I purchased. BEST CHOICE EVER. Here’s why:
1 – Customer service. I had a question about the theme, I literally got an answer the next business day. This may not be the every day scenario, but they answered during the holiday season which is huge!!! vmThemes isn’t some company that doesn’t support it’s product. It’s clear they want you to succeed.
2 – The completeness of the theme. There were a bunch of coding “hacks” and plugins that I had installed previously to make the Free version work how I wanted. Total waste of time. The paid version had everything. A filterable Portfolio that we are using as a gallery, a contact page template, and not to mention the Appearance Editor programmed into WordPress. It’s the complete package. That brings me to the last point…
3 – The cost vs benefit ratio. I easily spent 40 hours “hacking” the free theme and wasn’t even done… When I decided to purchase I erased my entire wordpress installation from my server, reinstalled wordpress, installed the PRO version of the theme and had done all the changes I had previously done on the free version in only about 5 hours…. That’s one work day, vs 7.
Now I’m getting ready to get the latest theme, Initio, from vmThemes, and I couldn’t be more excited to see what they have to offer this time around.
If you’re questioning if it’s worth it… don’t. It definitely is.
