Image Slider Setup

In order for Image Slider to appear on the Home page correctly we will need to verify that “Front page displays latest post. Navigate to WordPress dashboard -> Settings -> Reading and see if Front page displays is set to Your latest posts.

In the next step we will create a new category and assign Featured Posts that will act as image sliders. First go to WordPress dashboard -> Posts -> Categories

Create a New Post by clicking on “Posts, then click on the “Add New button.

  • Add a title in the Title entry box.
  • Add your post’s content in the Content box.

Add Image to Post (Will become the Image for Slide1 of the Image Slider):

On next page select the image you want in the Media Library. A check mark will appear on the image after it’s selected. Once selected give the image a Title and Caption text and click on the “Set featured image” button in the bottom right corner.

Alternatively you can click on the Upload Files tab in the upper left corner, click on the “Select Files button, then navigate to the location of the image and follow the same steps from above to select and set it as the featured image.

After the image is set, it will appear in the next page in the Featured Image section. Staying on the same page scroll to the top and click on the “Publish or “Update” button to publish the image.

Navigate to “Appearance -> Customize -> Theme Options -> Image Slider Settings in the Dashboard section on the left. Once inside the Image Slider Control, drop down the “Image Slider Category and select the Category (imageslider) that you created earlier.

To verify, go to the home page of your website and check if the correct image is visible in the Image Slider. Once verified, repeat the steps to create additional Posts and add Images to the Image Slider.
